Riverside Indonesian BBQ
- Plaza Singapura Kopitiam Stall #10

This is a small expansion of the Riverside Indonesian Restaurant at Merchant Road. Weekend weekday, lunch or dinner; the queue is maintained. The same two familiar aunties everytime, one takes the order and the other grills the pieces of fragrant meat. The Ayam Panggang(grilled chicken) is the best-seller here, and you get served immediately. For the others like Ikan Panggang (grilled fish) and Sotong Panggang (grilled squid), a short waiting time is required.

Sotong Panggang Set ($5,and an additional 50cents for vegetables)

Every plate served is neat, with an organised presentation.

The secret as to why this is so well-loved lies in the black gravy. It is very savoury, tasting sweet and slightly peppery. The squid was well grilled and seasoned; juicy and cut into bitesized chunks for convenience. Moist and fragrant, the rice exudes a tinge of pandan scent. It also goes well with the light mild curry. However, the egg was too thin, and the vegetables were tasty but slightly overcooked.

Ikan Panggang Set ($4.80, and an additional 50cents for vegetables)

A huge slab of fish, with a crispy outerlayer and coated with the same black sauce. Simply flavourful (:

Overall: This is where you can find affordable versions of indonesian bbq food without sacrificing the quality. There is a variety to choose from, like udang panggang (prawns), as well as satay or ayam goreng(fried chicken). The service is also good, with a polite aunty taking the orders in detail and thanking all her customers.
