Tomoe Japanese Cuisine

Tomoe Japanese Cuisine
-263 Upper Thomson Road

This cosy restaurant used to be located at Park Mall many years ago before moving to Orchard Point and finally here. It was one of our frequently visited restaurant when i was young and i recently found it once again. Lost & Found (: They offer a wide range of set meals with some ala carte items as well.

Mixed Teppanyaki Set ($16, complete with sides and soup)

My favourite dish from here. Its well-seasoned and fried just nice, retaining the juicyness of the chicken meat, fish, squids and prawns. Sometimes it can get a little overboard with the saltyness but it goes with the nice fluffy rice perfectly!

The serving was considered generous, with 3 shelled prawns and lots of chicken pieces. Hidden below were broccolis, cabbage and mixed vegetables.

Yaki Sakana Set ($13, complete with sides and soup)

This is grilled mackerel (more commonly termed as saba shioyaki),and it was accompanied with a simple squid salad. The miso soup was also better than most miso soups, milder in taste and not overly salty.

Soft, tender and juicy, the saba fish melts in the mouth. But its a pity the skin was soft instead of crispy, or it would have been better.

Salmon & Tempura Salad Set ($13.80,complete with sides and soup)

A salmon bowl, together with a plate of mixed tempura and a salad.

Thinly sliced salmon sashimi topped on a bed of fluffy cold sushi rice. Similar to eating the salmon sushi but in a different form.

Soba and Sushi Set ($12, complete with sides and soup)

With this, you get to enjoy the goodness of both rice and noodles.

Soft but not reaching soggy, the noodles were submerged in a light clear sauce. Best eaten with wasabi added in the sauce.

Eight pieces of maki with avocado, cucumber and crabstick. Nicely topped with furikake.

Agedashi Tofu ($6)

This was quite average, with the crust too thick and the sauce was just normal.

Overall: Parking is sometimes difficult as there are many reasturants around and the parking spaces are limited. But the food was worth every trip here. However, it can get a little boring once you have tried most of all the sets.
