Menotti
fashionable italian cafe
-Raffles City #01-17

It was a random decision to dine here with my parents while we were at Raffles City. This cafe & bar was designed to project a stylish and contemporary envrionment, with the main colours namely red and brown. It gives a warn and fashionable feeling, and offers a selection of authentic italian food and desserts.

Salmone ($19)
"grilled salmon with cream of spinach"

My dad had this, but i felt that it was abit expensive. A salmon fillet, topped on a clump of smooth buttered mashed potatoes, with creamed chopped spinach at the side. Presentation was good.

Tagliatelle with King Scallops, Mushrooms & Pesto ($17.90)

The tagliatelle pasta is actually a broader version of linguini. It was cooked very soft, and i could tell the pasta was hand-made. Fresh thick scallops, tasty pesto & mushrooms, but the whole dish was soaked in an abundance of olive oil.

Strudel ($5.50)
"apple pie with golden raisins, pine kernels and vanilla icecream"

Thin pie crust, fully stuffed with crunchy filling. The vanilla icecream was home-made, creamier, with a very special taste of vanilla. It melts extremely quickly because it is somewhat like gelato.

Tiramisu ($5.90)
"mascarpone cheesecake with ladyfinger biscuits, coffee and cocoa"

I didn't try this since i've never been fond of tiramisu, but dad commented that it was really good.

Cuppuccino

Overall: I liked the ambience and the modern design of the cafe, it just gave a very warm feeling. Efforts were also seen in the food, both the making and the presentation. Price wise i felt that it was generally reasonable, but some are slightly too pricey. I would come back for more. In simple terms, quality italian food.
