Suki Sushi
gorge on those premiums
- Cathay Cineleisure Orchard #04-02
Buffet dinner with jessica. Its been long since we had a buffet together. Suki Sushi's student premium buffet costs $16.95++; a tad more expensive than Sakae Sushi's but much more worth it. Their buffet range includes all $4.90 items like sashimi, tempura and premium sushis. There was also my favourite cheesecake from Suki Group Restaurants (:
We ate loads!
(shall state the usual price of the item as well)
Ajitsuke Itako ($4.90)

Our favourite japanese appetiser; seasoned baby octopus.
Salmon Sashimi ($4.90)

Fresh raw salmon slices, cut into even thickness. it is smooth and cold in the mouth- one thing we really love!
Amaebi & Salmon Sashimi ($4.90 x 2)

Mixture of sweet shrimp and salmon sashimi.
Ni Hotate Sashimi ($4.90)

Tender and juicy raw scallops.
Cha Soba ($1.80)

Mini portion of cold greentea buckwheat noodles in broth.
Fried Tofu ($1.80)

Deep-fried tofu in tempura coating, topped with sweet sauce and spring onions. The idea originally came from Sakae Sushi, but their version here was not too bad as well. We had another set of this.
Age Dashi Tofu ($2.90)

Deep-fried breaded tofu in light shoyu broth, topped with seaweed, spring onion and bonito shreds. Its a different style from the fried tofu, being salty instead of sweet.
Ika Tempura ($4.90)

ooh, entire baby squids deepfried in tempura batter! Best eaten when dipped with the japanese mayonnaise.
Tori Karaage ($1.80)

Deepfried chicken chunks with mayonnaise. the outer coating made it pretty crispy.
Salmon Ball ($1.80)

I could sort of figure out that the interior is made up of minced salmon and fish paste, but i didnt really like the taste though.
Tako Yaki ($1.80)

Mini batter-balls with octopus bits topped with mayonnaise and a whole load of bonito shreds. It came piping hot and yummy that we took 2 portions of it.
Age Gyoza ($1.80)

Deepfried japanese dumplings drizzled with mayonnaise.
Tempura Maki ($4.90)

A whole tempura prawn rolled into maki then coated with shrimp roe. This came without any sauces or dressings but it was still good.
Unagi Maki ($4.90)

Unagi in sweet sauce, sweet egg and cucumber maki coated with bonito shreds. The unagi slice in there was pathetically thin.
Kizame Unagi ($1.80)

Seasoned unagi cubes with cucumber and sesame seeds.
Hana Lobster Sushi ($4.90)

Sushi rice balls wrapped with salmon sashimi and topped with lobster salad. Was quite disappointed that the lobster salad and salmon were both not very fresh.
Cold Spinach ($1.80)

Refrigerated cooked spinach in dilute shoyu broth.
New York Cheesecake Slice ($1.80)

presenting one of my all-time favourite cheesecakes! i simply love eating the cheesecakes from the Suki group of restaurants (sakura, sukisushi). The cheesecake slices are more dry, but is ultra smooth and soft. It has a somewhat unique vanilla-tasting cheese which makes it really yummy (: i always have 5 or more slices of it when i dine at Sakura. haha.
Overall: Our bill came out to be about $39 but the totalled value of the food we had was $66.80. Plus, we had free flow of drinks throughout our meal(either grrentea, guava, lime or orange juice). I'd say its not exactly high-quality japanese food but still, its one the most worthwhile buffet around. The food came rather quick but the service was not up to mark. There were many waiters slacking around and showing slipshod attitudes. In any case, i will still choose to return for more japanese buffets in future.
