Geylang 29 Fried Hokkien Mee
finally a more promising plate

Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee (old airport road) used to be on the top of my Hokkien Mee ranking, but now it has to make its way down to the 2nd place. I'm glad i've discovered this new gem at East Coast Road.

Fried Hokkien Mee ($4)

A great stock is expertly fried into into the noodles, achieving a superb thick consistency. Nicely damp, it releases a satisfyingly rich flavour with every mouthful of noodles. Generous toppings of squid and deshelled prawns of a very decent size. Its simply classic!

Lard bits were used in the frying but it was minimal. The accompayning sambal chilli could have been more spicy though.

Pair with it a refreshing cup of well-brewed teh-o-bing from the same coffeeshop. Its lighter and without the awful bitter taste.

Overall: Prices start from $4 onwards, slightly more that other stalls but it was well-worth for such quality. Takeaways come in opei leafs to give a fragrant aroma as you unwrap. Friendly and commendable service here. Thumbs up for them!
