Lao Di Fang Vegetarian Restaurant
homestyled vegetarian teahut
A small humble teahut in the bugis area; offers a great range of vegetarian dishes and meals. Although its a small operation here with just one chef and one serving staff (ive noticed they hired one more), service is precise and food quality is all ensured.
Crispy Tofu ($4)
This is a must-have for my family. The tofu cubes are excellently deepfried to a distinct crispy outer layer. Biting in, you feel the juicy & ultra soft light beancurd with absolutely NO oily aftertaste. The tasty sauce adds on more delight.
Fried Oyster Mushrooms ($4)
Oyster mushrooms in a light batter coating, then sprinkled with five-spice powder. Once again, without the greasy feeling.
Chicken Cutlet Rice Set ($5.50)

Thats my favourite chicken cutlet; deepfried until it is completely crispy. Healthy sides like corn and french beans were given, all dusted with the delightful five-spice powder. They only serve organic brown-rice.
Fish Rice Set ($5.50)
Another set served in a bento tray, but this is with fried fish strips.
Dumpling Noodle with Herbal Soup ($5.50)

For their noodles, you get to choose from 5 types of soup base and mum took herbal. The noodles were quite similar to la-mian and the local handmade you-mian. Comes with veggie, 3 vegetarian dumplings and wolfberries.
Overall: Vegetarian meals are definitely improving, especially with restaurants like this. The small shop space provided a cosier and quieter dining experience, and there is even a whole series of local & Hongkong chinese magazines available for reading (even the latest issues!)
