Prego
a flavour of italy

With a spacious dining area and copious use of warm maplewood colours, Prego conveys a sense of casualness and warm ambience. With full glass windows panels, diners can delight in hearty Italian cuisine whilst people-watching amongst the busy city street.

Generally it is very much an idyllic enclave to dine in, with huge open kitchens on site where you can watch the chefs at work and feel the wafting aroma from the food. Heartwarming & comtemporary authentic italian fare offered.

Complimentary Bread

The meal is started with an entire loaf of freshly-baked bread in a basket. Served warmed, the bread was heartily fresh and went well with olive oil or the accompanying tomato dip.

Linguine Allo Scoglio ($27)

"linguine with mussels, clams, squid, scallops and prawns in tomato sauce"

Our request for a change to aglio-style was instantly obliged, but somehow the decision seemed more like a mistake.

The linguine was firm to the bite and came generously topped with fresh seafood. I especially liked the tiny petite scallops and the nice touch of white-wine glazing in the dish. But their aglio version just lacked the sufficient flavour i expected.

Pizza Aragosta ($27)

"tomato, mozzarella, lobster meat, barbeque sauce and oregano"

Dad asked the waiter to get a comfirmation that their pizzas were wood-fired. The dense dough was fortunately not too dry under the thick layer of mozzarella. Something good to relish was the lobster meat which certainly paired-off well with the barbeque sauce- however it could have came more and in larger pieces.

Dad also made an additional order of australian red wine which costs $16 for a glass.

Overall: Prego appears as a fine italian restaurant, sharply focused with attentive service. The chefs here have commendable striked the perfect balance between traditional authenticity and innovative preparations.
