Sumo House Japanese Restaurant
cheapest japanese food in Singapore

Thats what they claim; the cheapest japanese food in singapore. But, they didnt promise on the quality. Three good things: the cheap food, the air-conditioned environment, and the free flow of hot green tea.

Gyoza ($1.90)

The skin was really thin but only slightly crispy. Minced meat inside was average tasting.

Saba Teriyaki Bento ($3.90)

Its true that i've not found any Saba bento around priced at $3.90 yet. Their bentos came with a miso soup, pickled cucumbers, coleslaw and orange slices. Alot of rice given but it was not too well-cooked. The saba was also awfully dry and tough.

Salmon Teriyaki Bento ($4.90)

For just a dollar more, the salmon was much better-tasting. At least it was softer and came in 5 reasonable pieces. But, it was abit too oily and unusually dark pink in colour.

Overall: I guess its not too bad for an affordable after-school meal, seeing that most of the customers were students. But to me, the food was somehow terribly disappointing. 2 other outlets at Ang Mo Kio & Bedok Central.
