Yong He Eating House
classic taiwanese breakfast

Nothing beats having a hearty breakfast in the morning at Yong He. Situated along geylang road, Yong He offers taiwanese-style delights like dough-fritters (youtiao), soyamilk & soya beancurd and meesuah etc. My parents used to take me here for breakfast when i was young and i actually got addicted to their shao-bing.
Shao-bing

Traditional baked pastries with sesame topping.
Pork Floss & Egg Shao-bing ($2.40)

Distinct flaked layers wrapped with the goodnes of egg omelette and yummy pork floss.
Pork Floss Shao-bing ($2)

Just the pure delight of porkfloss in pastry. Its good but it can get a little too dry with the moisture from the egg.
Xiao Long Bao ($2.30)

Im utterly disappointed by this poor rendition of xiaolongbao. The skin was terribly tough and greasy while the filling lacked the oomph of juices. Certainly no match for Ding Tai Fung's.
Taiwan Mee Suah ($3)

Not bad, but its just not my thing.
Hot Soyabean Milk ($1)

It felt like as if i was drinking soup while i savoured this with a spoon. Average-tasting but the surface coagulates really quickly.
Overall: A popular place with the locals for breakfast and supper, since they operate 24 hours. The food is not exactly fantastic but it makes a good place for breakfast. Be sure to try their shao-bing! (:
