Ipoh Hor Fun
unexceptional edibles

An unpretentious stall located in a bright & spacious Vari Nice Food Court around bedok area. Dad frequents here for lunch and decided to bring us here to try their horfun. They actually offer several varieties of horfun and dumpling-related noodles, as well as homemade hong kong desserts.

Fish Dumpling Hor Fun ($3)

A plate of horfun comes submerged in a brown gravy and accompanied with 4 deep-fried dumplings. Very ordinary horfun actually; not exactly smooth and even had a tinge of sourness. Some poor blanching skills is reflected by the clumpy parts but at least the gravy didn't turn out too disappointing.

It was supposed to be fish dumplings, but i didn't manage to catch any tinge of that. Still, these crispy pieces with a halved prawn in them managed to save the dish. They came out well from the deep-frying machine; crispy with a pretty colour.

Fried Wanton Noodle ($3)

Again another average noodles drenched in the same passable sauce. Came with morsels of charsiew and deep-fried wantons.

Dumpling Soup ($3)

Looking good but their dumplings were honestly just so-so.

Overall: Monotonous food which didn't excite but was a reasonably fine meal. Those deep-fried stuffs are not bad actually. The good thing here was the clean and airy eating environment.
