remember your hongkong desserts

"Remember to eat" is what they want to bring to your attention. Never forget desserts cause they are sweet endings to our meals- most Hong Kong people believe in that. And im sure Singaporeans are starting to go for that as well; just look at the sudden influx of dessert stalls around.

Glutinous Balls in Ginger Soup ($2.50)

Here's something for the very traditional people like my mum. A mixture of 5 bloated sesame & peanut tang yuens in a clear gingery broth.

It was well cooked with a sticky elastic outer, packed with that gooey peanut paste. But it sure wasn't hard to cook these frozen balls.

Hot Steamed Milk Egg White (original) ($3)

I decided to be adventurous, going for my virgin attempt of steamed egg white. No regrets.

Came so ultra fragile that it was even softer than any kind of tofu; it just gently slides down your throat. Have it plain to feel the goodness of milk and egg white without being too sweet. Not bad!

Barley Beanstick with Gingko ($2)

My sister's order. A pretty standard dessert so there's nothing much to comment about, but it should be good since she didn't complain.

Overall: If you do remember to have your desserts while in the bugis area, here's one place you can consider going to. Its good enough to satisfy cravings for these traditional bowls of sweetness. Plus, there's quite a variety to choose from.
