The Manhattan Fish Market
bring on the flame

This restaurant first struck an impression in me as a copycat version of Fish & Co. The whole concept is seemingly identical and most of the menu items are very similar as well. Decided to try out its new outlet at The Central Mall.

We were first served with the basic condiments-chilli sauce, tartar sauce and minced garlic (just like those at Fish &Co!)

Manhattan Seafood Chowder ($4.90)

Wasn't exactly thick and only had a small amount of seafood pieces in there.

Sizzling Louisiana Prawns ($10.90)

"delicious whole prawns poached in creamy Louisiana shrimp sauce. comes with slices of baguette"

An immediate sizzling sensation was created when the waitress poured the creamy Louisiana sauce over. I expected bigger prawns actually, but theirs came small and over-fried till it was tough and dry. The sauce wasn't too bad though.

Came with slices of lousy baguette- super tough cause it wasn't toasted!

Flaming Platter For One ($17.90)
"one large grilled catch-of-the-day with our award winning flaming prawns"

Came loaded with loads of garlic rice, fries, a large dory fillet and 3 grilled prawns. The crispy fries were good but i think the dory fish at Fish & Co is much better.

The only impressive thing was how the award-winning prawns were flamed right infront of you!

I liked that slightly charred mayonnaise-based sauce.

Grilled Norwegian King Salmon Fillet ($15.90)
"naturally grilled in basic salt & pepper topped with Manhattan garlic butter sauce"

The salmon came in a really huge slab and it tasted not bad.

Chamomile Tea ($2.90)

Overall: They take the victory in terms of variety and ambience but i still preferred the fish at Fish & Co; and its an important aspect. Even so, the flaming idea is sure a good eye-opener for me (:
