Ministry Of Food- My Izakaya
japanese dessert at its best

Craving for japanese cuisine, xinya and i decided to have dinner at Marina's MOF. A well-rounded variety of food is available at generally affordable prices- but the most attractive part? The range of tempting japanese desserts!

Unagi Tofu Salad ($4.30)

Ordered an one-pax appetizer salad to share- unagi and tofu cubes on a bed of chopped tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers. The fresh crunchy greens was quite alright with the yummy unagi but the overall was a little too dry (even after pouring in the sauce). Was also hoping for bigger unagi chunks.

Zaru Soba ($5)

My very basic main order of cold zaru soba. I was absolutely shocked by the huge portion! The bowl was really deep and contained a large clump of soba with icecubes at the bottom. The soba wasn't exceptional but it was sure value for its price.

Hiyashi Ramen ($7.80)

Xinya had a cold ramen tossed with sesame sauce. The thick ramen was practically covered by the shredded toppings- cucumber, egg, crabstick, seaweed and meat cubes (which she didn't like).

Macha Imo ($6.50)

This is their strongly-recommended signature dessert- the ultimate softserve with macha syrup paired with deep-fried japanese sweet potatoes and red bean paste. Most of the ingredients used are freshly imported from Japan to ensure quality authenticity.

And it certainly lived up to its name. The extremes went well; icy cold icecream plus hot sweet potatoes. We both loved the softserve which tasted so rich of creamy hokkaido milk!

Overall: There was a 10% discount for students and out bill totalled to about $20+, its super reasonable for the standard of food we had.
