Parklane Zha Yun Tun Mee House
crispy paltry bites in demand

Once rated by Life! as Singapore's 5th best wanton noodles, this branch of Parklane seemingly fell below expectations. To put it frankly, they have been over-hyped but still managed to attract a fair amount of customers to fill up most of the tables. I have no idea why.

Wanton Noodles Dry ($3)

The fine noodles was probably the best part of the dish- it came evenly coated in a flavoursome sticky sauce which i liked. Other than that, the over thinly-sliced charsiew was forgettable. What puzzled me most was the unjustified popularity of their fried wantons; yes they sure were crispy, but the measly bit of meat was totally dissatisfying.

Wanton Horfun Dry ($3)

Everything is the same except for the change of egg noodles to horfun. Middling standard i would say, since only the sauce base scored.

Overall: Not too bad for a budget meal, since a standard $3 order comes with 3 fried wantons as well as 2 normal wantons in soup. Just do not expect much from their wantons -a good wanton required delicious fillings and their version certainly didnt not make the cut. It could hardly even be tasted.
