Pepper Lunch
sizzle it your way
Recently had a casual dinner with some of my new og mates at Dhoby Xchange's Pepper Lunch. Apparently its a chain of fastfood steakhouse which came from Japan where your orders are served in their very own sizzling iron hotplate. Tasty food kept hot throughout the meal, how nice (:
Salmon Pepper Rice ($9.80, with a drink)

Unable to consume beef, my choices are limited down to only the chicken or salmon. I went for the salmon despite the price and it sure was satisfying. It was a novelty seeing how the raw salmon slices gradually changed in colour.
The next thing to do was to mix up everything quickly to get the black pepper, butter & sauce in the middle spread out to the other parts.

The result? Sizzling hot tongue-burning flavoursome rice. I liked the addition of the juicy corn bits as well.
If the given seasoning is inadequate for your demanding tastebuds, there are 2 other sauces for you to add at your preference- honey brown sauce and garlic pepper sauce.
Beef Pepper Rice ($8.80, with a drink)

The beef version.
Amongst us there were other steak orders but they mixed it up so fast that i didn't get a chance to snap a photo of it.
Overall: The D-I-Y concept is fresh and interesting, providing a fun experience of self-cooking the food. However, the food is slightly too pricey for students but i think they have express outlets with cheaper varieties. I'll probably visit those instead.
