Sri Vijaya Restaurant
pure vegetarian delicacies

I'm a huge fan of Thosais. Therefore, it is almost impossible for me to resist not visiting Sri Vijaya's after viewing ieatishootipost's power review on them. Their location is just a short walk away from Little India Station, but was really easy to miss.
It doesn't seem one bit like a promising eating place- just a small shop space serving traditional south indian food. In fact, things got so traditional that there wasn't even a single fork or spoon i could find! But the food was sure worthy of my first barehands-eating-experience.
Plain Thosai ($1.20)

I always have the habit of ordering a plain thosai to savour the natural taste. And theirs is definitely up to expectations!

Their thosais were a mixture of partial softness & crispyness. Adequate fluff achieved with a lusciously fresh tasting batter. excellent version.
Masala Thosai ($1.80)

How about the same wonderful batter with a masala filling? its double the bliss!

Looks good, tastes good. Their savoury potato masala simply combines so well with the thosai.
Teh Tarik ($0.80)

A wowing frothy beverage. Everything just went right with this; the sweetness harmonised with the creamy milk and simply makes you slurp up to the very last drop.
Overall: I liked the very traditional way of operation- the server lugs along a HUGE metal pot of curry together with your thosai and only drizzles them with your permission. Only 2 grouse; pretty grouchy service & the lack of utensils (but this wasn't too bad afterall). Currently No.2 on my thosai chart, coming in after casuarina's.
