Angus House
western & japanese; both sides satisfied!

Another fruitful sunday where dad & i haunt for a fine lunch- here's a recommendation where he used to frequent with his colleagues years back. A unique menu of american & italian cuisines is delicately infused with japanese flavours and styles, just how special is that!

Sunshine comes through the glass panels and illuminates the interior, giving it a cheery glow.
They offer a separate set lunch selection (with soup, salad, coffee/tea) apart from their premium set lunches (with soup, salad, dessert) in the menu. Dad's choice obviously had to be a steak item while i chose to have a value set lunch.
Homemade Bread & Butter

All main courses come with a choice of either bread or rice. Their warm bread was so so good! Break into the ultra crispy crust and you get some airy & clingy bread with a very fresh taste.
Clam Chowder

I don't actually fancy clam chowders (since i do not eat clams) but i decided to try it afterall. Surprisingly, it was unexpectingly good and it didn't take me long to relish everything. Middling thickness done just right and came with many clams (but all of it ended up in dad's bowl).
Salad

Fresh greens with a light japanese shoyu dressing, very refreshing.
Grilled Prawn and Chicken ($20)

Disappointingly, my main course was a let-down. The lacklustre chicken slab appeared slightly too tough for me while the overdone prawn wasn't exactly fresh. Black pepper sauce and corn were not too bad.
Grilled Sirloin Steak ($35)

Their steak, served on a sizzling hotplate, was well accompanied by a savoury homemade japanese sauce. In fact, it was so good that dad requested for an extra portion of it. Couldn't sample the beef so the rating here is provided by him.
Tiramisu

The dessert-of-the-day that came with dad's set. Tiramisus were never my kind of dessert but i took a small bite out of this dainty slice. It turned out pretty alrite with a combination of some mild cheese and coffee flavour.
Overall: The most interesting thing i felt was how the waitresses were dressed in some maid attire (just like those seen in mangas). In general, Angue House fits in as a simple yet elegant place for fine quality jap-western fare. Very unique in its own ways.
