Corochan's Corokke
not the usual potato patties

I happened to spot this japanese croquette stall in Bugis Junction enjoying some brisk business. Feeling a little hungry, i decided to follow the crowd and try it!

Wow, the 8 available flavours made it real hard for me to decide.
Eventually settled for 2 of the seafood ones..
Prawn ($1.80)

Ooh, the prawn version was surprisingly up to expectation. The middle layer of delighful prawn paste (made from whole fresh prawns!) combined so well with the outer buttery potato mash and crispy breadcrumb coating. A tad too oily, but every contrasting part just blended nicely in the mouth.
Salmon ($1.80)

Instead of being potato-filled like how croquettes are supposed to be, this consisted of rough meaty paste with small salmon chunks. The filling somehow had a fishy taste that i didn't like.
Other than these, they also offer other varieties like seafood, squid, onion tuna, omelette and camembert cheese. For the more traditional ones, try the original corochan made from hokkaido danshaku potatos. May not be the healthiest snack around, but it should be good enough to fill (:
