The Olive Tree
Mediterranean Buffet Dinner

Daddy had a complimentary dinner for 2 voucher and so we are back at The Olive Tree for buffet again. Came as a whole family of 4, but we only had to pay for the price of 2 diners.

the entrance.

The buffet spread..

There were quite a range of appetizers at the salad bar, but the most appealing thing had to be the bed of cold lobsters! We were lucky to get a few before it ran out because no replenishment was made.

Other than the pasta station, the range of hot food was rather limited. To make things worse, many were beef items which the three of us (mum, sis & i) have to miss out on.
Servings of food..

A round of cold food, hot mains, then followed by a Green Pea Soup. The lobster and prawns were very fresh and succulent!

Pasta;

Sis & I both agreed that their pasta was good. Basically we get to choose the type of pasta (spaghetti, linguini, fusilli or farfalle), sauce base (cream or tomato) as well as the ingredients (assorted meats & veg). I had a fusilli in cream sauce with honeybaked ham cubes, capsicums and shredded lettuce. Thumbs up for the cream sauce which came thick (but not overwhelming) and made extra delectable with the use of various herbs and seasonings.

Time for the lovely desserts!

A whole array of desserts and sweet stuffs were offered. There were cake slices, mini bites, cookies, desserts in cups, assorted fruits, as well as a crepe station. Simply choose your preferred filling & toppings and the chef will whip up a hot-piping crepe for you on the spot.

some variety of cakes..

My crepe was filled with fresh mango cubes and drizzled with their homemade raspberry coulis. The crepe was good and all of us had a serving each.

Other desserts i had..

Most of these were pretty alrite, but my favourite picks had to be the Plain Cheesecake & Brownie Cheese! The cheesecake was very well-textured and not too sweet; the brownie cheese had a nice combination of chocolate & cheese flavour that went well. Another interesting one was the hot chocolate cake which was steamed-to-order in a petite glass cup and then dusted with icing-came steaming hot but only average in taste.

Overall: We were actually quite disappointed with the spread as much more variety was available the previous time we came. Foodwise, everything was generally delectable but nothing appeared fantastic. Meticulous service shown.

We paid the price of actually 1 diner.. see... voucher for 2 and 1 for 1 (50% off the other 2 paying diners) due to the priority card. OK? The total bill was about $40+. And don't forget the free Cheese Cake.
