Thohirah Restaurant
venturing deeper into jalan kayu

Mention Jalan Kayu and Thasevi's slabs of fragrant pratas would immediately come to my mind. I always thought of them as the sole prata stall there until recently...i was brought further down to Thohirah. Whoa, so there is actually competition! Being more crowded that Thasevi, i just knew i had to eat here and judge the difference..

Chicken Satay ($5 for 10 sticks)

A small station is allocated just for the satays and it looked so tempting as the guy cooks them. Rather impressive indeed, the sticks are well-marinated to a orange shade and well-packed with a light spice flavour. Best of all, the meat was tender.

Mushroom Prata ($1.50)

Nothing to shout for; their pratas are just satisfactory. Averagely layered prata dough which was rather bland but filled with a reasonable amount of mushrooms.

Maggi Mee Goreng ($3)

This just wasn't my kind of noodles; not well-cooked and fried in some indian spice which gives it a reddish colour.

Teh-o-bing ($1.10)

I actually saw a display menu with innovative pratas like mango, durian, apple and pineapple but apparently the person there told me that they no longer serve those. Still, huge murtabaks are available but all pretty pricely due to the seafood fillings.

Overall: The place here is spacious and airy but service was terrible. Despite having a more extensive food menu, i believe i would still prefer having my pratas at Thasevi instead.
