KOH-San Japanese Cuisine
promising foodcourt fare

During our class dinner at Bugis Junction's Foodcourt, i made a new discovery- a seemingly promising japanese food stall. Being the same two japanese food lovers, it didn't take much hesitation before Sarah and I agreed on sharing a meal from here.

Their operation here draws close to restaurant-like dining, where you may sit along a counter and pick your orders off a fully-illustrated menu. Unless you choose to eat straight at the stall, food collection is self-service. All their food here is cooked upon order, as indicated by our 8 minute wait.

Unagi Don ($9)

It was sure a generous bowl of rice topped with an unagi slab and sweet sauce. Looking good, but it failed to shine tastewise. Rather clumpy and sticky rice with thin and not too tender fish. Passable i would say, and the portion was reasonable.

Agedashi Tofu ($3)

Ordered this as a side without any regrets; its one of the best ones i've had! The sauce came in a separate bowl for self-pouring just before starting on it. Well-fried and sufficiently thick crust which turned surprisingly sticky and chewy when its drenched with sauce. Thumbs up for this, i liked it alot!

Chicken Teppan Set ($7.80)

Ian's set was comparatively more value for money. It comes in a personal hotplate with rice, miso soup, salad and a small piece of cold tofu.

Chicken Teppan

The food items here is more than enough to choose but are considered rather expensive for foodcourt fare. Nevertheless, i believe the portion and quality is generally worth the price. Their Agedashi tofu is a truly a stunner!
