Mellben Seafood
a legend of crabs

Quality seafood doesn't necessarily have to be Jumbo or No Signboard. Mellben is a huge draw with the neighbourhood crowd after being featured in the media on several occasions. Being so famous for their scrumptious crab and seafood dishes, the crab orders are estimated to take an hour to arrive!
This is my second time here with Mum and Sis and once again i witnessed the perpetual queue. Fortunately for us, our orders were efficiently taken while we queued and led to our table about 15 minutes later. The long wait was mainly for the food.

Sliced Fish Bee Hoon ($8)
A portion just nice for the three of us to share. Cooked with milk and butter to form a delicious broth, the rich flavoursome soup makes the thick bee hoon extra tasty. Noodles were unexpectedly springy with generous slices of fresh fish given.

Four Treasures Tofu ($12)
Had tried this before during our first visit but i still insisted on ordering it. Softly-battered egg tofu with broccolis, 2 large prawns, 3 scallops makes up this dish and all four of these components are my favourite! Seafood was fresh but the broccoli was a little too hard.

Butter Crab ($38.50 for 1 kg)
woohoo~ and of course, their signature butter crab is a must-have! The entire crab is deep-fried until fragrant and then cooked with some lip-smackingly tasty butter cream sauce. One more good thing- their crabs are all pre-cracked for convenience.

tender and satisfying pincher meat. finger-licking good!

Fried Buns ($4 for 10)
My next favourite dish is none other than their fried mantous, being the best i've had so far. These mini buns are skilfully deep-fried without being oil-logged. They are so good that i gobbled up 4 at one go!

The queue may seem ridiculous but it is truly justifyable but the quality food. To sum up, i must say their crabs are seriously worth-waiting for!
