Outback Steakhouse
no rules, just right
"American or Australian?" , was my very first doubt. A restaurant with a seemingly american-style setting but having a menu labelled with Aussie terms can get me real confused. Only after some clarification that i realised this is actually one of america's chain restaurant successfully bringing an unique interpretation of Australia.

So, here's their sole branch in Singapore located at Milenia Walk. In there, a dim lighting sets in with individual bright lights illuminating each of the tables- its really akin to dining in America. The menu boasts of very bold western food with appetizers here being called Aussie-Tizers.

Bushman Bread ($1.90)
homemade honey bread. Accompanied by spreadable butter, this chocolate-looking brown loaf was as average as it can be. It didnt bear much taste or smell, and wasn't exactly soft either.

Typhoon ($10.90)
breaded onion. We initially wanted to have their signature blooming onion but it was unavailable so this was a similar version recommended by the waitress. A strong onion taste is packed under that breaded crust and it tasted pretty good when its warm.

Darling Point Crab Cake ($13.90)
Two Golden cakes loaded with lump crabmeat topped with lighly seasoned fresh tomato and basil. Consisted of very mashed up crabmeat which didnt excite; absolutely monotonous-tasting. All i could praise about was the low potato content that didn't overkill the proportion of crabmeat.

Botany Bay Grilled Salmon ($25.90)
Fresh catch, lightly seasoned and grilled.Served with fresh veggies. Here's what i went for; auite a generous slab of salmon with vegetable stir-fried in oyster sauce. The grilling was nicely done, resulting in the well-cooked surfaces and reasonably moist interior. Rather well marinated fillet but some parts was just a tad too saltish.

No Rules Burger ($18.90)
Choice of toppings: Bacon, Lettuce and tomato, Pickles and Onions, Swiss Cheese, BBQ Sauce, Grilled Onions, Sautéed Mushroom, American Cheese, Bleu Cheese dressing.Whoa, a whole burger loaded with all the available fillings and further completed with fries! Nice fluffly-looking bread but it can get quite messy with all the sauces and ingredients leaking out.

Chocolate Thunder From Down Under® ($13.90)
Fresh-baked pecan brownie, rich vanilla ice cream topped with hot homemade chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chocolate shavings. The first brownie dessert was certainly impressive enough. A dense cake-like slab bearing some soft compact texture and a light chocolate flavour. Take a bite and you will feel the very subtle crunches of pecan matched with a gradually spreading sweetness, yum. The enormous scoop of vanilla icecream was just passable but the ball-shaped whipped cream tasted special. Wow wow, i liked this one.

Cheesecake Olivia ($13.90)
New York style with a choice of raspberry, chocolate or caramel sauce. The first dessert had gotten me all hyped up but this next one is even better! It may look like a simple and boring tall slice of cheesecake but don't underestimate it. Baked to perfection, the crust comes just of the right colour and hardness with the cheese being soft and extremely delicate. Tastewise was milder and lighter than i expected; not too overwhelmingly sweet. You just won't get sick of it!
Adding on the the bliss is a serving of rasberry sauce with an amazingly smooth flowing consistency. Totally complements the flavour of the cheese to give a perfect balance. HEAVENLY~

Tea ($3.50)

Lemonade (3.90)
What a fulfilling meal! Although the service is far from excellent, their desserts are good enough for me to love this place.
American dining + fabulous desserts= lovely.
