Riverside Indonesian BBQ Rice
flavoursome panggang delights

My favourite haunt for Indonesian BBQ is none other than Riverside at Plaza Singapura. Despite its poor location right in the ineermost corner of the foodcourt , it never fails to draw the longest queue. Decided to introduce this to Cassandra for our dinner.

Sotong Panggang ($4.80, additional $0.50 for vegetables)

A standard plate gets you a main with rice, egg omelette and soup but i would usually request for an additional pile of cabbage. The mountain heap of fragrant rice is infused with a mild pandan taste and comes generously topped with a light curry gravy for the extra flavour.

However, the sotong this time was a little tough and shrivelled- probably lost its texture due to the overgrilling. Nevertheless, the specially-concocted black gravy over it still remained as delicious as ever. Perfectly savoury with a hint of sweetness that i had absolutely no complains about.

Ayam Goreng ($4.30)

Cassandra went for a fried chicken drumstick, topped with the wonderful black sauce upon my request. The chicken was well-cooked under that fine crumb coating.

Overall: The huge crowd here is an obvious testimony to the good food. Every single order is cooked fresh on the spot and presented tantalisingly with all that delectable gravy and sauces. Definitely worth the wait!
