A&W, Batam

Doesn't this simply remind you of the childhood days; all that rootbeer float and curly fries?
I swear i missed A&W! This american fastfood chain was one of my favourite breakfast spots when i was young. Those memories of my sis and i heading down for our morning waffles, sausages and eggs every weekend still remains clear on my mind...
And then the saddest thing had to happen. Every outlet in Singapore started to close down grdually with a domino effect, just like the case of Dunkin Donuts (sigh, also my favourite!). Obviously, there was no way i could miss this opportunity of having my A&W fix here! Within 2 days, i managed to visit two outlets- at Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall and Batam Mega Mall.

i was jumping for joy the moment i saw this, hah!

Waffle with Ice Cream & Strawberry Syrup (Rp 17000)
Whoo~ purely raves with no complains at all!
Just look at how tempting it is... a freshly-made waffle topped with swirls of their signature soft serve then drizzled with some sinful strawberry sauce. I was so glad the taste of their waffles were kept the same, a neutral flavour with no particularly-dominating component. Not too sweet, not too buttery, not too milky- just plain soft, airy goodness. The softserve came thick and the strawberry sauce was not the artificial sort.

Of course, nothing is complete without a mug of A&W's signature rootbeer (didn't get a float because it would be too much icecream at one go =p )...

Regular Rootbeer (Rp 6600)

yum.
The very next day, i had my lunch at the Mega Mall outlet- at a cost of forgoing some authentic indonesian feast with granduncle and people.

Fish Sandwich (Rp 15600)
Another good junkfood- breaded deep-fried fish patty, cheddar cheese slice and lettuce, topped with a dollop of mayonnaise and sandwiched in an oat burger. I loved how the cheese slice melted over the hot tender fillet. The top pieces of bread was a little dry but made better with the mayo dressing.

These two meals to reminisce the old times definitely made my trip more worthwhile (:
