Tuck Kee (Ipoh) Sah Ho Fun

Don't be deceived by appearance; this humble-looking hawker may bear a dark and unappealing image but it is no doubt the most popular stall here. Highly rated by the Makansutra Guide, legendary queues for their crayfish horfun are a daily thing.

Crayfish and Prawns Horfun ($4)

Now i understand the high demand.. every plate looks espeically appealing with the 2 halves of crayfish and fresh prawn slices. A generous dollop of white ribbon ricesheets comes drenched in a thickened gravy. I made a request for lesser gravy and i fully regretted- so little was given that it wasn't even sufficient to coat the noodles.

Although i had to bear with dry clumpy horfun, it was still passably soft and smooth. The prawns and crayfish were absolutely fresh could do better with at least a bit more marination.

Instead, what managed to wow me was their prawn wantans in soup...

Prawn Wantan Soup ($2)

A small portion came with 5 petite dumplings, each filled with a whole succulent prawn. Every one of it is lusciously marinated to give a sweet and delicious aftertaste, nice!

Overall, here's a good plate of horfun to satisfy but definitely not as impressive as its ratings. I would probably just go for a bowl of wantans soup on my next trip here.
