Wang Cafe

A quick breakfast here at Harbourfront Centre with granduncle Henry, grandauntie Josie and mum before catching our ferry to Batam.

This is some Ya Kun look-a-like cafe.

Mum and i took up their Promotional Buddy Set ($3) , consisting of 8 kaya & butter toasts plus 2 drinks of our choice. Teh-0 for her while i had teh-o-bing at an extra $0.40 (quite a ripoff actually!).

8 slices of Kaya & Butter Toast

I liked their toasts very much despite the uneven slicing and pathetic kaya spread. A paltry layer of coconut jam was just the way i liked it to be: less kaya= less sweet= less cloying. The bread is so well-toasted with the correct crisp thickness that i gobbled my share up with much ease.

Another thing was the soft butter which managed to soften under the heat of the bread- this is another aspect done better than those hard frozen slabs from their competitor (yes, i mean Yakun).

Teh-o-Bing

Granduncle and auntie had a standard Set A ($3.60) each- the usual fare of 4 kaya toasts, 2 soft-boiled eggs and a drink. Teh-Ci for the both of them.

Soft-boiled eggs

Notice the excellent cooking timing managed for the eggs; resulting in these beautiful semi-boiled runny delight. All it requires is some pepper, sauce and mixing for a protein-packed indulge!

More toasts & Teh-Ci

Seems like i found a good match for Ya Kun and Killiney Kopitiam. Way to go, Wang Cafe!
